Reading Halacha before Prayer
Beloved seeker on the path of the One
The new month of Nisan began on March 19.
We are now in the early days of Nisan.
Yet we do not rush.
The blessing over the moon is not said immediately,
but we wait, three days, until the light begins to appear.
This waiting has meaning.
It is a time of preparation.
A time to quiet the heart,
to return to clarity,
and to become aware of the presence of the Creator.
Therefore, the blessing may be said from the evening of March 22.
Only then, when the moon is visible and growing,
do we speak the blessing.
We begin in simplicity and reverence.
If possible, place a kippah upon your head, not as an obligation, but as a sign of awe. A reminder that there is One above us, who sees us and guides us.
Then wash your hands, gently and with awareness,
as a sign of purification, not only of the body, but also of the heart.
For it is fitting to approach this moment in a state of clarity and calm.
Step outside, if you are able,
and look toward the sky.
Behold the moon, newly renewed, softly growing in light.
Take a moment of silence.
If you wish, open The Divine Code, and remind yourself of the Seven Commandments, not a religion, but a way of life grounded in justice and peace. They are a compass for humanity, a foundation of dignity and responsibility.
Let these words not only be read, but carried within the heart.
Then turn your gaze again to the moon.
Reflect on its renewal, how it disappears, and returns again in light.
So too the human being is given the gift of renewal,
to return, to refine, and to walk again in righteousness.
Remain for a few moments in stillness,
breathe calmly, and direct your thoughts toward the Creator of heaven and earth.
